Project Description
This project involved the installation of an ammonia/CO₂ subcritical refrigeration plant for the Americold bulk storage coolstore.
Ammonia refrigeration was utilised as the primary refrigerant, operating through two MYCOM 220JL series compressors and an Alfa Laval U-Turn plate heat exchanger. The system refrigerated glycol to −13°C, which was used to condense CO₂ into liquid form.
The liquid CO₂ was then pumped to evaporators servicing two main storage areas, providing temperature control across a range from +2°C down to −30°C.
